A renowned physician, educator, and leader, Dr. Morales worked for two years at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery for the Physician Assistant Program. He served five years as the Assistant Professor of Colorectal Surgery and one year as the Surgery Clerkship Director at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine.

Physicians highly recognize Dr. Morales in his field, so he served as a judge for the American Medical Association's 10th Annual Research Symposium. He was a member of the Hispanic Center of Excellence Advisory Committee for three years and has served on many important medical education committees since 1998 to support the university’s mission.
